Wastewater Technician I

Summary: Seeking a Wastewater Technician I to operate waste treatment processes and handle chemicals safely, ensuring continuous production service.

Requirements:

Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school, OR 6 months to 1 year of related Waste Treatment experience and/or training.

Proficient in waste treatment techniques/methods.

Capable of data entry and basic computer skills.

Ability to work independently and manage daily activities efficiently.

Knowledgeable in chemical handling and safe work practices per OSHA standards.

Physical ability for climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, fine motor tasks (fingering), grasping, feeling.

Capacity to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally and enter confined spaces such as manholes and tanks.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with operations such as atomic absorption spectrometry, pH meters, samplers, chemical analysis equipment.

Proficiency in using pumps and mixers.

Familiarity with computer programs relevant to wastewater operations.

Responsibilities:

Maintain flow-thru systems, batch treatments, IXRO systems to standards.

Ensure cleanliness and safety in the work environment.

Keep equipment in proper working order.

Participate in Quality Improvement Teams (QITs) for operational enhancements.

Engage in Safety Audits for workplace safety improvements; implement corrective actions based on findings.

Conduct inspections within the department for equipment functionality; initiate corrective actions if needed.

Regular communication with team members and management for updates and coordination.

Hazardous waste sampling and data entry using Excel software tools are required duties of this position

Actively engage in EMERGENCY RESPONSE procedures when necessary

Monitor manufacturing operations for environmental compliance regularly

Demonstrate commitment to safety and environmental standards consistently throughout all job functions Operators may be required to wear specific safety gear including glasses or additional protective equipment when working in designated areas Annual Hazardous Waste Management training is a mandatory requirement Overtime may be necessary for coverage on alternate shifts/weekends DOT training must be completed initially upon hire with periodic refresher courses thereafter

Additional Notes: Candidates must pass a drug test. U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency status is required. Background checks are not necessary. Interviews will be conducted in person. This role requires flexibility to perform other duties as assigned.
