Job Title: Wastewater Treatment Operator I
Job Description

Operate and maintain water/wastewater treatment, processing, disposal, and testing equipment in a water/wastewater treatment facility to purify water and meet permit and operational requirements.

ResponsibilitiesTend to automatic and semi-automatic machines and related equipment including pumps, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, chemical feed and odor control, and vacuum filters used to decontaminate wastewater by settling, aeration, and sludge digestion.Monitor control panels and adjust valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow.Monitor flow meters, gauges, flow ratios, pressures, and related controls through instrument panels, computer terminals, and programmable logic control units in the assigned area.Monitor and record operating conditions, observations, and data in area shift log.Ensure conformance to process specifications. Diagnose basic operational problems and take corrective action per procedure. Verify and report suspected malfunctions and variances to the supervisor and take corrective actions.Sample wastewater, sludge, and gases (odor control, digester, etc.) according to schedule.Prepare chemical solutions and service automatic samplers.Monitor process chemical supplies and recommend reorder.Essential SkillsExperience in an industrial or municipal facility operating or repairing equipment such as hoses, pumps, valves, gates, mixers, blowers, feeders.OSHA 10 certification.Ability to lift 50lbs on a repeated basis.Mechanical, electrical, and general labor skills.Operational skills.Additional Skills & Qualifications1+ years of experience in basic wastewater operation, lab testing, and inspections.Ability to learn and independently operate equipment such as pumps, engines, generators, valves, gates, mixers, blowers, chemical feed, sludge processing, measuring/control devices, testing equipment, and material handling equipment.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

Candidates will be working at a treatment facility located at an aluminum plant in Oswego, NY. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 6 AM - 2 PM. When direct, candidates will obtain their CDL license to operate tankers. Every other weekend, they are required to perform a routine check at the facility on Saturday and Sunday for 1 hour, receiving payment for 3 hours of work (overtime).

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oswego, New York.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
