Wastewater Treatment/Utilities OperatorPosition Overview
Shaw operators in the Plant Energy department are responsible for learning, troubleshooting, and maintaining multiple processes:
· Wastewater Treatment Plant
· Distillation Columns
· Air Compressors and Plant Air Header Supply
· Steam Boilers and Plant Steam Header Supply
· Water Chillers and Plant Chilled Water Supply
· Turbine Power Generation
· Plant Nitrogen Supply
A Day in the Life:
Employees in this position work approximately 70% outside / 30% indoors. The employee will work as a team with 3 Plant Energy operators each shift. The employee will perform inspections several times per day of the processes listed above and document equipment operation information. The employee will also perform water testing and chemical dosing as required in the Wastewater treatment facility as well as for the steam boiler units. Troubleshooting the equipment and processes is a requirement of the job and is expected to keep the plant operating smoothly. Employees will be required to perform lock-out / tag-out of equipment, line break and work permitting, operation of Powered Industrial Trucks (forklifts), among other expectations.
Shift:
This position works a rotating 12-hour shift. This shift rotation includes day and night shifts, starting at 7AM or 7PM.
Requirements:
Must be able to work scheduled shift, in addition to holidays, weekends, and overtime as required.
Must have a high school education or its equivalent.
Must have the ability and technical skills to enter data into a computer database.
Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds as required.
Must be able to ascend and descend stairs/ladders.
Must possess good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
Wastewater Operator License preferred. Pay rate dependent on license level.
Salary Range: $23.84 - $28.08 per hour
