Water and Fuel Systems Maintenance Lead (WFSM)
**Purpose and Scope:** Supervise the operation, maintenance, and repairing of water and fuels systems, ensure that AAAF has safe drinking water and establish and maintain a comprehensive Cross-Connection Control Program. Supervise the operation, maintenance, and repairing of wastewater systems, oil/water separators, and grease traps to ensure proper function and to prevent environmental issues. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF). **Essential Responsibilities:** + Operate, maintain, and repair potable and fire water distribution systems including wells, reservoirs, booster stations, storage tanks, pump stations, cathodic protection units, chlorinating units, surge tanks, hydrants, sprinkler systems, and related distribution infrastructure IAW AFMAN 32-1067. + Establish and maintain a comprehensive Cross-Connection Control Program to identify, isolate, record, and correct cross-connections and other potential sources of potable-water distribution-system contamination IAW AFMAN 32-1067, FAC 62-555.360, and AWWA Manual M14. + Perform cross-connection inspections and prevent backflow of all water systems and equipment in the cross-connection program. + Operate, maintain, and repair water systems IAW HN standards, Environmental Final Governing Standards, and AFMAN 32-1067. + Exercise all water main valves at least annually. + Perform water flow tests as directed by the Government IAW UFC 3-230-02. + Operate and maintain the water collection and processing systems (e.g., reverse osmosis plants, salt-water pump systems) to ensure a continuous supply of potable water. + Disinfect water in the event of water line breaks that decrease water line pressure IAW ANSI/AWWA C651 standard, latest edition. Use bacteriological test to sample the water after repair to certify that water sampled is free of coliform bacteria contamination with zero discrepancies allowed. + Update and maintain the Facility Power Module (FPM) database module within APIMS or current Government System on Fire Pump Operation and Maintenance (O&M) to fulfill the requirements IAW AFMAN 32-1062, AFMAN 32-7002 and Unified Facilities Criteria 3-540-07. + Operate, maintain, and repair wastewater systems and related infrastructure, oil and water separators, and grease traps IAW current industrial and municipal standards, DoD directives, HN standards, and Environmental Final Governing Standards. + Collect and dispose of recyclable oil, wastewater, and by- products from oil and water separators. + Operate and maintain facility plumbing systems which include water distribution lines, sanitary sewage lines, water heaters, solar water heaters, interior roof drainage components, distribution boxes, valves, piping, fittings, fixtures, gauges, vents, and roof jacks. + Perform unscheduled emergency or critical plumbing work. **Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:** + Five (5) years’ experience and needs to be highly qualified in water/fuel. + Minimum three (3) years of experience leading and managing personnel. + A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. + Military and/or technical training in fuel and/or water systems. + Possess excellent communication, analytical, project management and supervisory skills. + Desktop computer skills are essential with proficiency in full range of Microsoft Office products and should be capable of preparing management level reports and presentations. + Must have the ability as the lead to perform the required work as well. + Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license and passport. + Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location. + Must be a USN to fill this position. + Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment **Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:** + Able to stand for long periods of time such as eight (8) to ten (10) hours, bend, kneel, and reach to store/retrieve supplies. + Able to lift, carry, and push supplies and boxes up to 50 pounds. + Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration. + Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock. + Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions. + Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions. + Ability to travel domestically and internationally. **OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES** **Safety** - Amentum enforces a safety culture whereby all employees have the responsibility for continuously developing and maintaining a safe work environment.
