Job Description
As a Water Asset Manager, you will be responsible for inspecting water asset valves, hydrants, meters, and water meter boxes for leakage. You will use acoustic sensors to detect leaks and notify the Project Manager of potential issues. This role involves working outdoors, dealing with various weather conditions, and traveling from the Project Manager's location to job sites. You will use phone apps for mapping and conduct non-revenue water recovery and control services, including leak detection, planning and deployment of acoustic noise loggers, water network establishment, asset identification, and implementing step tests.
ResponsibilitiesInspect water asset valves, hydrants, meters, and water meter boxes for leakage.Use acoustic sensors and headphones to detect leaks.Notify the Project Manager of potential leaks.Travel to job sites and work outdoors in various weather conditions.Use phone apps for mapping and documentation.Conduct non-revenue water recovery and control services, including leak detection and planning.Deploy acoustic noise loggers and establish water networks.Identify and plan asset management strategies.Implement step tests and recover flow and pressure data.Complete job forms, time sheets, and other required documentation.Ensure safe working methods and participate in weekly safety meetings.Read, interpret, and measure Map/GIS information.Facilitate all leak detection work requirements, including night work if needed.Attend or conduct site meetings with clients.Maintain and upkeep project-related equipment and conduct quarterly stock checks.Essential SkillsExperience with GIS and water utility systems.Proficiency in leak detection and meter reading software.Strong troubleshooting and safety procedure knowledge.Experience with documentation and mapping software such as ArcGIS.Ability to read, interpret, and measure Map/GIS information.Additional Skills & QualificationsDegree in Environmental Science, GIS, Biology, Geology, or related field preferred.High school diploma or GED required.1-2 years of experience in physically demanding jobs preferred.Experience with water distribution systems and acoustic leak detection desirable.Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day, bend frequently, and lift up to 20 lbs.Flexible schedule with the ability to travel and work extended hours.Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal instruction.Strong communication and customer service skills.Safety-conscious mindset.Willingness to consent to a drug screen.Work Environment
This position involves significant travel, with an average of 50% travel time, including potential trips to Florida, Michigan, Texas, and other locations. You will work from home when not on-site and report to job sites daily. The role offers flexible working hours, with options to work 5 eight-hour days or 4 ten-hour days, ensuring a minimum of 40 hours per week. You will be provided with a company vehicle and phone, so a valid driver's license and ability to use a smartphone are essential. The work environment includes exposure to various weather conditions and requires physical endurance.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
