Position Summary:

The Water Jet Operator performs basic water jet operation tasks such as interpreting work instructions, gathering related work docs, load and unload material using a crane, secure parts using clamps and shims, fill media hopper, and perform in process inspection tasks utilizing basic inspection hand tool such as calipers, micrometers, and pin gauges. They will also demonstrate competencies in basic shop math, basic print reading, intermediate trouble shooting based on understanding cut programs (flow rate & media) and full setups. They will also perform general water jet maintenance (Pump, Head & Fluids) and basic programming.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Set up and operate water jet machinery according to work instructions and cut programs.Safely load and unload materials using a crane, ensuring proper placement and alignment.Secure workpieces using clamps, shims, or other appropriate methods to maintain accuracy during cutting.Fill and maintain the media hopper with the required abrasive material as per the job specifications.Conduct in-process inspections using basic inspection hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, and pin gauges to ensure quality standards are met.Apply basic shop math and interpret engineering drawings or blueprints for the correct setup and execution of tasks.Identify and address basic operational issues and perform intermediate troubleshooting based on an understanding of cut programs, flow rates, and media requirements.Perform routine maintenance on water jet equipment, including the pump, head, and fluids, to ensure optimal machine performance.Execute basic programming tasks for the water jet machine to achieve desired cutting results.

Required Skills:

Proficiency in operating water jet machinery and understanding the principles of water jet cutting. Ability to safely handle and manipulate materials using a crane and other equipment. Skilled in using inspection hand tools like calipers, micrometers, and pin gauges for quality control. Strong grasp of basic shop math and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Capable of identifying and addressing operational issues and performing basic troubleshooting. Basic knowledge of water jet machine maintenance, including pump, head, and fluid maintenance. Basic programming skills for water jet machinery. A willingness to learn. Punctuality Ability to lift to 35lbs.

Required Experience:

2+ years of experience in water jet operationMachinist certificate is a plus.Previous experience with machine maintenance and programming is a plus.

Level of Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.
