Water Project Engineer
Job Title: Project Engineer Job Description The role of the Project Engineer is to support the Project Manager in planning, execution, and close-out of projects according to schedule and budget. This includes coordinating internal resources and equipment and coordinating the efforts of team members as well as third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Engineer will also oversee quality control throughout the project cycle and serve as the principal project administrator and communication link between the company and clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies. Responsibilities + Provide overall project support either directly or through coordination with Project Coordinators or administrative staff. + Prepare and submit requests for information (RFI/RFCs). + Prepare and review materials submittal packages. + Assist with the preparation of subcontractor agreements. + Assist with vetting of subcontractors and material suppliers for the project. + Solve construction problems soundly and efficiently. + Update project schedule and look-ahead schedules. + Conduct surveys on construction sites. + Act as quality control and assurance to ensure that project objectives are met. + Ensure all construction safety rules and regulations are observed. + Prepare daily job costs and daily field logs for the project. + Obtain construction materials and verify their accuracy. + Monitor the cost of materials against the budget. Essential Skills + Engineering or Construction Management degree. + 2 to 5 years of experience in construction projects of similar size and scope (this project is $25 million). + Experience in industrial/municipal projects over $5 million (commercial construction experience will not be considered). + OSHA 10 certification. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Microsoft Project. + Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. + Effective computer skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with Viewpoint accounting software and Bid2Win Estimating software is a plus. + Proficiency in field productivity and cost tracking, including comparison to layouts for upcoming work. + Experience in QA/QC of work performed by field crews. + Development of work packages, including sequence of work, materials, equipment, and associated budgets. + Experience in purchasing materials and tools needed to perform the work. + Experience in subcontractor management and scheduling. + Ability to assist Project Superintendent with office-related tasks. + Experience in project schedule updates and cost reporting. + Experience in developing project submittals (product data, quality control plans, field procedures, shop drawings) in accordance with project plans and specifications. + Experience with Procore, Primavera P6, and Viewpoint Vista is preferred but not required. Work Environment The Project Engineer will spend 95% of their time on the job site. This is a long-term role requiring an average of 50 hours per week, typically from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm. The work environment includes regularly working around moving mechanical parts and equipment in outdoor conditions that may include inclement weather, heat, and humidity. The noise level may be loud at times. The role requires the ability to recognize safety signs and signals, operate hand and power tools, frequently move equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds, and perform tasks that involve stooping, squatting, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina are essential. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $62.00/hr.
