Role description:

The Arcadis Canada Water Team is growing. Arcadis Canada is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our well-established team in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Ontario. We are looking for an enthusiastic water professional to join our team to work on a range of water related projects with a focus on sustainability and resilience. As a Water Resources Engineer you will be responsible for hydrologic and hydraulic design, analysis and modelling. This is a great opportunity to work in a friendly and collaborative environment, receiving mentorship while reporting directly to a senior engineer who will provide guidance to help you reach your professional goals. This role is based in the Toronto area allowing a hybrid working pattern, option to work remote with travel to site and office as required.

Role accountabilities:

The Water Resources Engineer will have experience in all aspects of water resources engineering, including calculations, numerical modelling, field inspections, specifications, preparation of reports and presentations. The Water Resources Engineer must have a strong understanding of water resources engineering principles and solid understanding of design processes and operations modeling. Technical knowledge of Master Plans and Class Environmental Assessments and ability to work with stormwater management software (experience with PCSWMM is an asset) is required. This role will require strong organizational skills, ability to manage time and resources while working independently or as part of multidisciplinary teams. 

Participate in the design of plans, specifications, reports and other technical documents. Provide project engineering and task management, conduct difficult to complex hydraulic and hydrologic modeling; conduct stormwater collection systems modeling and design; collect, assimilate and present data in reports, memos and public forums; lead production of design calculations and technical reports; and lead preparation of engineering plans and specifications for design of detention facilities, storm drains, flood control facilities and other hydraulic structures. Evaluate hydrological conditions for water quality, treatment and environmental monitoring. Work independently in addition to planning, organizing and assisting groups of medium to large teams of professionals and technicians dependent on project/task. Design hydraulic infrastructures (dikes and dams, spillways, weirs, water intakes, ditches or canals, culverts, retention/detention ponds, pumping stations). Stormwater management design using computer aid programs (CAD); solid experience with Civil 3D. Experience with stormwater management and permitting. Experience with water distribution design and modelling (WaterGems, InfoWater, and WaterCad). Assist in water resources permitting efforts, preparation of bid / proposal packages and preparation and delivery of professional presentations Ability to perform XP SWMM, SewerGEMS, PC SWMM, StromCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and ESRI’s ARC Map in engineering projects.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or demonstrated equivalency of education with 3+ years experience in all aspects of water resources engineering. Proficiency in MS Office and MS Excel, Civil 3D, and Auto CAD and Water Resources Construction Works is preferred.

The salary range for this position is $80,000-120,000 The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
