Water Resource Planning Senior Manager

Freese and Nichols, Inc. (FNI) is currently seeking an experienced manager for the Water Resource Planning team based in Fort Worth. The role involves the technical and managerial leadership of major water supply projects including planning and permitting phases of development. The candidate will provide advisory support at a senior level for a large team of planning staff located throughout Texas as well as coordinate with other senior leaders on the growth and development of the business throughout FNI’s geography. 

Project responsibilities will include water demand forecasting, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling studies, water quality modeling and studies, water conservation analysis, project conceptualization and cost estimation, evaluation of environmental impacts and climate resiliency, and assessing legal and institutional issues involved in the assigned water supply projects. Candidate will be supported by an experienced and diverse planning team and will be expected to provide technical guidance and professional mentoring. 

Primary activities will be focused on project- and staff-related endeavors in Texas, although coordination with the National Practice Leader and Group Managers will provide opportunities to assist in directing and influencing growth of the water resources planning throughout FNI. The preferred candidate will demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills though past experience. 

Qualifications

Qualifications 

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Water Resource Management, Hydrology, or similar degree.

Professional Engineer in Texas.

Familiarity with Texas water rights and state and federal permitting processes.

Twenty or more years of experience in water supply planning and/or project implementation. 

Preferred Qualifications 

Familiarity with integrated water resource planning concepts including the comprehensive management of water, wastewater, and stormwater resources.

Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or comparable engineering or applied science degree.

Senior leadership experience.
