Your Opportunity

Our Alberta Water Team (based in Edmonton) has an opportunity for a Water Resources Engineer-in-Training who has a passion for design, project coordination and other water resources related tasks. We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, detail-oriented team player who is excited about expanding their knowledge about various water resources projects. The qualified candidate will assist intermediate and senior engineers/designers by performing tasks which may include calculations, modelling, fieldwork, data analysis, reporting, and other engineering assignments, all in a friendly, fast-paced work environment. Your Key Responsibilities This role will involve participating in a wide variety of water resources and municipal infrastructure projects, from planning and conceptual design to detailed design and construction support. Collaborate with senior engineers and hydrologic/hydraulic modelers and project leaders to ensure that the projects’ needs are met and priorities are understood.  Coordinate and participate in multidisciplinary water-related projects, including water conveyance, transportation, environmental, and community development projects. Contribute to the conceptual design, preliminary design and detailed design of water related projects including site civil, conveyance and water resources projects. Writing reports and design briefs Project coordination and providing assistance to various project managers on a variety of projects. Coordinating design drawings and specification development Attending internal, client and contactor meetings and documenting the meetings with minutes Contract Administration as required for a wide variety of construction projects. Hydraulic and hydrologic modeling may be required. Your Capabilities and Credentials Willingness to strive for excellence in all aspects of their work activities and find it personally rewarding to meet and overcome challenges. Sound understanding of water, environmental principles, and engineering concepts, including hydraulics and hydrology. Commitment to client satisfaction and the delivery of high-quality work products. Experience analyzing and managing data, interpreting hydraulic model results and producing clear visuals to demonstrate results. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, responsibilities and projects and adjust to changing demands. A strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure design and construction. Highly skilled in common desktop packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.) Strong interpersonal, time management and communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to produce robust technical writing pieces (e.g. reports or proposals). Flexibility to work beyond regular business hours when needed. Previous experience working with municipalities, utility owners or in engineering consulting will be considered an asset. Working knowledge of industry-standard hydraulic/hydrologic modelling tools, including InfoWorks CS/ICM, MIKE Suite, PCSWMM, WaterCAD, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and/or Civil 3D will be considered an asset. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited university, preferably in the water resources, and/or environmental disciplines. Registered with APEGA as an EIT or P.Eng. (or eligible to register) Minimum 2 years of demonstrated related experience.

Work Environment

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather.
