Water Resources Engineer

WATER RESOURCES PRACTICE 

Michael Baker International’s Water Group provides innovative consulting, planning and engineering solutions for the entire spectrum of the water cycle. We have proven experience in providing a full range of professional services from scientific and technical analysis, concept through design, and construction support services. Protection and management of water resources starts at the watershed level and follows the movement of water through urban and agricultural areas, streams, lakes and reservoirs, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and water/wastewater treatment plants.

DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker International is actively seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our growing Water Practice in Chicago, IL.  Michael Baker provides a flexible work environment with a balance mix of office and home work.  You’ll be a part of our team of talented engineers working on a variety of water and stormwater infrastructure projects that include planning and design.  Responsibilities will include the following:

Planning studies, analyses and preliminary engineering efforts.  Develop engineering reports and technical memoranda.  Perform hydraulic modeling. Prepare design calculations, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.  Research products and materials and conduct technical evaluations. Preparation of quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates, etc. Participate in field visits and investigations. Participate in client meetings, meeting preparation and presentations. Assist with technical proposals during the pursuit of key projects. Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (cost estimators, GIS, designers, surveyors, and other engineers). Work with internal and external engineering teams in the design, quality reviews, and development of preliminary and final design plans and details Work with senior Project Engineers and Managers who will guide you in the development of project documents. Assign tasks to lower-level design personnel, provide technical guidance, and review completed assignments for accuracy

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related engineering field  Have 6-10 years of increasingly-responsible, professional experience in the study, design, and construction administration of water resources projects Self-starter interested in working on a variety of projects supporting the Water Group. Have excellent technical writing and communication skills. Demonstrate proficiency in organization and presentation of documentation. Possess an Illinois P.E. license (or able to obtain a reciprocal Illinois P.E. license immediately). Proficient with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel and PowerPoint is required Experience with H&H models Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation and GIS is highly desired

COMPENSATION 

The approximate compensation range for this position is $90,558 to $130,743.  This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.  Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
