Job Title: Water Resources Engineer

Job Description

The Water Resources Engineer will analyze reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design projects. Responsibilities include preparing or directing the preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for projects. The role involves conducting stormwater management, drainage design, hydrologic, hydraulic, and water quality modeling, and environmental permitting for roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors, channels, dams, irrigation systems, pipelines, and powerplants. Occasional site visits to inspect construction sites are required to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards. The engineer will utilize hydraulics and hydrology modeling software to analyze and evaluate the impacts of project improvements, as well as design, analyze, and review grading plans, tributary areas, flow calculations, detention pond sizing, release rates, storm sewer and culvert capacities, and other civil site design elements.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Saint Charles, Illinois.

Work Environment

This position requires working 100% in the office all five days and reports to the Division Leader. The individual will directly supervise 1-3 employees in the Civil/Environmental Division and will collaborate with other project managers and Sr project managers. Projects will include water main, sanitary, storm sewer design work, grading plans, and roadway MFT design style work, with the potential for some construction inspection. The engineer will work on 2-5 projects at a time. There is endless opportunity for growth in this position, with the potential to join the leadership team and move into a Sr project management role.
