Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Water Resources Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience in hydrology, hydraulics, and environmental engineering, with experience in stormwater management, drainage design, and water quality modeling. This role involves preparing and modifying reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for various projects including roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors, channels, dams, irrigation systems, pipelines, and powerplants.
ResponsibilitiesAnalyze reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design projects.Prepare or direct the preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for projects.Conduct stormwater management, drainage design, hydrologic, hydraulic, and water quality modeling, and environmental permitting for various infrastructure projects.Occasionally visit construction sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards.Utilize hydraulics and hydrology modeling software to analyze and evaluate the impacts of project improvements.Design, analyze, and review grading plans, tributary areas, flow calculations, detention pond sizing, release rates, storm sewer and culvert capacities, and other civil site design elements.Essential SkillsProficiency in stormwater management, Civil 3D, hydrology, and stormwater engineering.Experience with hydraulic modeling.Knowledge of Civil 3D, AutoCAD Civil 3D, water resources, water and wastewater.Expertise in permitting, environmental site assessment, drainage, environmental compliance, and environmental engineering.Experience in drainage design and water treatment.Additional Skills & QualificationsBS in Civil Engineering.Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Water Resource/Drainage Engineer.Experience with water main, sanitary, and storm sewer design work, grading plans, and roadway MFT design.Ability to train and develop junior engineers.Professional Engineer license in Illinois or Wisconsin.Certified Flood Plain Manager (CFM) is preferred.Experience with IDNR, US ACOE, FEMA, IDOT, WIS DOT, and local & county permitting requirements for stormwater and drainage projects.Proficiency in storm sewer and hydraulic modeling - Civil 3D SSA.Experience with subdivision and site drainage design and review.Some construction experience preferred.Work Environment
This position is entirely office-based for all five workdays and reports to the Division Leader. The role involves directly supervising 1-3 employees in the Civil/Environmental Division and collaborating with other project managers and Sr PMs. Projects are typically outside the fence scope or utility-focused, including water main, sanitary, storm sewer design work, grading plans, and roadway MFT design. Occasional construction inspection may be required. The role provides endless growth opportunities, with potential advancement to the Sr leadership team or a Sr PM position.
