Water Resources Engineer
Job Title: Water Resources EngineerJob Description We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to join our team for the DC Water Blue Plains Program. As a Water Resources Engineer, you will develop design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for various projects including water, wastewater, drainage, and civil site projects. You will conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for stormwater management, drainage analysis, and flood mitigation projects, ensuring regulatory compliance. The role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams such as surveyors, geotechnical engineers, and environmental consultants. Responsibilities + Develop design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for water, wastewater, drainage, and civil site projects. + Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for stormwater management, drainage analysis, and flood mitigation projects. + Prepare grading and site development plans. + Ensure regulatory compliance with relevant standards and guidelines. + Utilize Civil 3D, GIS, and AutoCAD for project designs. + Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including surveyors, geotechnical engineers, and environmental consultants. + Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. + Perform occasional site inspections. Essential Skills + Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. + Engineer in Training (EIT) with plans to obtain Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure in the future. + 2-10 years of experience in civil design with a focus on water, wastewater, drainage, and site development. + Proficiency in Civil 3D, GIS, and AutoCAD. + Strong communication and analytical skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Hands-on experience with hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS, SWMM, or StormCAD. + Familiarity with permitting and regulatory agencies such as EPA, DOT, FEMA, and local water authorities. + Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Work Environment Work hours are primarily 8 AM to 4 PM with some flexibility. The candidate will be on-site five days a week at the DC Water Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant in Washington D.C. The work environment is primarily office-based with occasional site inspections. The team is tight-knit with about 17 full-time employees. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $65.00/hr.
