Job Description

AECOM is seeking a skilled and motivated Water Resources Engineer II to manage the Remediation Business Line's Groundwater Modeler system. The successful candidate will have technical expertise in groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling, data analysis, and hydrogeologic investigations.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to complex environmental and water resources projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. This position demands solid engineering skills, experience with quantitative analysis, technical writing, and effective teamwork. Experience in proposal support and project coordination is a plus.

The selected candidate will act as a point of contact for all state and federal governmental entities and port authorities and are often intertwined with large iconic infrastructure projects.  We provide expert leadership in establishing Remediation clean-up levels, risk mitigation, cost forecasting, liability management, public relations, and ultimately helping our clients reach sustainable solutions on complex sediment sites.  

The job responsibilities for the position will include but are not limited to:

Support hydrogeologic studies, including the development of conceptual site models and numerical models for groundwater flow and contaminant fate and transport.Apply modeling tools such as MODFLOW, MT3DMS, MODFLOW-USG, and related visualization software to simulate groundwater and surface water interactions.Analyze environmental data, including hydrogeological, hydrological, and chemical datasets, to support decision-making.Prepare detailed technical reports, including data interpretation, modeling results, and remedial recommendations.Utilize GIS to develop informative visualizations of site data.Collaborate with senior engineers and scientists to enhance technical capabilities within the team.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

BA/BS in Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrogeology, or related field + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters Degree in Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrogeology, or related field3+ years of experience in groundwater modeling and hydrogeologic investigations in consulting industry or academic research.Proficiency in numerical groundwater modeling using tools such as Groundwater Vistas or GMS.Experience in contaminant fate and transport modeling.Strong remediation consulting experience.Experience with 2D and 3D visualization software such as RockWorks, Leapfrog, or C-Tech EVS.Understanding of environmental regulatory requirements and compliance.Knowledge of surface water hydrology, hydraulics, and hydrodynamics, with prior experience using surface water modeling software.Experience with PFAS modeling and regulatory guidance.
