Title: Water Treatment Operator
Location: Independence, MO
Salary: Pay Ranges from $27.57-$36.13
Schedule: 4-10s M-TH 5:00AM-3:30PM or 48/36 W-SU 6:00PM-6:00AM
Focus: The Water Treatment Operator is responsible for daily operational and maintenance work required of the Industrial or Neutralized explosives or Pyrotechnic wastewater and Water Plant treatment systems. Maintaining compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations while ensuring the efficient operation of the wastewater treatment systems and managing environmental waste.
Water Treatment Operator Essential Job Functions: Perform start-up, operations, and shut down of at least two of the treatment facilities including the Water Plant. Draw samples, including environmental routes and sampling and make various chemical analysis, start and stop equipment, maintain an adequate supply of chemicals in hoppers or tanks, adjusts, cleans, lubricates and maintains various treatment equipment such as pumps, clarifiers, filters, chemical feeders, and filter presses. Transport industrial and hazardous wastewater to the proper treatment facility. Perform general millwright and pipefitting duties. Maintain proficiency in safety procedures. Water Treatment Operator Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent Must meet one of the following requirements: One year recent and relevant water treatment operations, plumbing and/or pipefitting experience; OR, Water treatment, pipefitting or plumbing certificate or diploma from an accredited trade school or vocational school; OR Relevant military maintenance education and/or experience in water treatment operations, plumbing and/or pipefitting Drinking Water Certification and/or DS2 State licensing certification preferred. Must have working knowledge of basic electrical, pipefitting/plumbing. Mechanical skills and abilities. Demonstrated skills in plumbing and mechanical repairs. Must be proficient in using standard shop test equipment and capable of learning specialized test equipment. Must have knowledge of motors and motor controllers. Must be able to complete specific environmental training as required. Including but not limited to Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Spill Prevention Control and Counter measures (SPCC), HAZMAT, HAZCOM, Underground Storage Tank (UST), Sampling, Asbestos control, Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) & Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulation and decontamination of equipment. Ability and willingness to work weekends, including overtime Must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain a Government driver's license.
