Purpose

 

Position is to provide support to the Midnite Mine chemical precipitation water treatment plant and ancillary support facilities.  Position is to provide services necessary to operate, repair, or maintain the Water Treatment Plant and support facilities.

Essential Duties

 

Work Activities shall include each of the following:

Support the Midnite Mine Water Treatment Plant operations: Maintain chemical reagent material balances Measure flow and water levels Maintain operational log sheets Operate the filter press Secure loaded transport trailer for shipping (cover, tarp load) Maintenance of the plant and support facilities include, but are not limited to: Replace and maintain equipment, controls, and vehicles - including greasing equipment, changing equipment oil, changing and repairing motors/equipment, and repositioning pit pumps Operation of the filter press, including cleaning of the press and building Clean water treatment facility Clean sludge and lime lines and valves related to plant operation Measure lime levels in the lime silo Measure sludge levels in the clarifiers

Training & Experience

 

The individual must have the ability to read, write, and understand English communications.  The individual must have proof of a valid WA State Driver's License.  The individual must be able to pass a medical evaluation questionnaire and respirator fit test.  Once hired, the individual must complete an OSHA 40hr HAZWOPER course and radiation worker training.

Working Conditions

 

Job duties include working within an environment which presents regurlar exposure to potential electric shocks, moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and wet and humid environments.  There is potential to be exposed, occasionally, to extreme heat, cold, and slick working surfaces.  Employees will be working around radioactive materials. 

 

This position requires the ability to verbally communicate with individuals, hear verbal communications and operational noises, inspect items up close, lift, and walk.  The individual is required to stand, sit, walk, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or twist and occasionally is required to climb a ladder.  The individual must reegularly lift 10 pounds or less, frequently lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 70 pounds.  The individual will regularly fill out daily water treatment process reports, including radiation survey forms.  The individual must have the ability to drive an automobile, have mechanical aptitude, and regularly use hand and electronic tools.  The individual will occasionally use a dust mast and a half face respirator.

 

The individual will be required to work 12 hour shifts and must be willing to occasionally work weekends.
