SUMMARY

BSPS, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking qualified T2 Water Treatment Plant Operator Lead for the 29 Palms MCAGCC BOS Contract. We are looking for a T2 California Certified Operator to Lead, Maintain, Facilitate, and Operate the Main Water Treatment Plant located on the 29 Palms MCAGCC Base.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

Lead, Operate and Maintain the Water Treatment Plant at 29 Palms MCAGCCSupport the operations and maintenance of the Water Treatment Plant Production FacilitySupport the operations and maintenance of the 29 Palms MCAGCC drinking water systemPerform routine and non-routine inspections of the entire water treatment facilityCollect and run routine bench top analysis of various water treatment samplesCollect, document and report operating conditions of specific water treatment equipment and systemsRecorded routine and non-routine activities during scheduled shifts  Perform housekeeping assignments as required for the water treatment facilityMaintain Chemical stock, storage, and ordering Qualifications

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications (applies to both this section and KSAO’s

T2 California Department of Environmental Quality Water Treatment CertificationExperience with operating and maintaining conventional pretreatment water systemsExperience with reverse osmosis systemsValid California Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

Excellent customer service skills, including verbal communication and interpersonal relations skillsExcellent planning and organizational skillsBasic analytical and creative problem solving skills, along with a positive attitude and a willingness to learnProficient with Microsoft Office Suites software

 

Preferred

Knowledge of SCADA control systems from a user standpoint is desiredHigher Level Certification (T3)Water Treatment Plant ExperienceLead/Supervise Water Treatment Plant operations

NECESSARY PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; Time is spent in both an office and a field setting.  Candidate must be able to lift 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

Job is performed in an office and field setting.  During work in the field setting, the candidate will be exposed to an environment typical of the southwest desert.   The candidate may also at times be required to work around chemicals typical of a water treatment facility

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

WTP Shift lead responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
