HDR is looking for a motivated Water / Wastewater Project Engineer to join our Water Business Group in our Pensacola, FL office. As a Project Engineer you will serve as the main “doer” for the technical delivery of a variety of municipal water and wastewater projects primarily in the Panhandle area with the ability to support other interesting projects across the State of Florida. The candidate will be expected to grow into and learn fundamental aspects - including participating in client management and marketing opportunities - of becoming a Project Manager in the future. In this role, we'll count on you to:
Provide project engineering and task management; lead detailed design preparation of engineering plans and specifications for design of water or wastewater facilities and related infrastructure; perform hydraulic evaluations and modeling efforts for pressure and gravity linear systems; and develop planning, preliminary engineering, and other technical reports Provide inter-disciplinary coordination leadership on projects with various disciplines engaged in project deliveryWork independently in addition to planning, organizing and assisting groups of medium to large teams of professionals and technicians dependent on project/taskAssist in project permitting efforts with various regulatory and municipal entitiesAssist Project Managers with internal activities to successfully manage a project (e.g. resource management, invoicing, quality management, etc)Perform other duties as neededPreferred QualificationsMS degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or related engineering fieldAt least 5 years of experience in the water/wastewater industryExperience with municipal or industrial water/wastewater systems, process and design Strong technical background and experience in water or wastewater treatment, water quality, water system distribution and/or wastewater collection systems, pipeline and pump station designAmbition to leverage quality-focused technical background into a client-facing Project ManagerPreference will be given to local candidates, however non-local candidates with outstanding resumes will be consideredRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent fieldPrevious experience executing technical studies, analyses, and/or designing and creating plans and specifications for water focused projectsProfessional Engineer (PE) licenseAbility to make independent decisions and be accountable for the resultsSelf-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a taskAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a mustWhat We Believe
