Job Summary
Langan is seeking a Waterfront/Structural Engineer to join its collaborative team in New York City. This individual will play a key role in working on projects along the shoreline, and will assist in creating design documents for various waterfront structures such as bulkheads, retaining walls, piers, platforms, revetments, flood resiliency measures, and more. In this role, you will also have the opportunity to participate in a dynamic team creating various aspects of waterfront developments such as ports, bridges, parks and esplanades, coastal resiliency, environmental remediation and protection of natural resources.
Job Responsibilities
+ Assisting with the planning and execution of field investigations;
+ Inventorying the condition of existing waterfront structures;
+ Observing waterfront construction activities; monitor conformance with the construction documents;
+ Conducting file reviews, site reconnaissance, and document searches;
+ Assisting in preparation of plans and details using computer aided design methods;
+ Performing structural and geotechnical design related to waterfront structures and general site construction;
+ Assisting in the preparation of various technical reports;
+ Accurately documenting and communicating with supervisor on any problems encountered on project sites; and
+ Performing other duties as requested.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required, with an interest in structural or geotechnical engineering; Master’s degree with a Structural or Geotechnical specialty or desire to pursue such is preferred;
+ 0-2 years of work-related experience;
+ Minimum GPA of 3.0;
+ EIT Certification, or current registration for FE exam preferred;
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
+ Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
+ Willingness to spend time in the field observing construction activities and performing required investigations;
+ Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment; and
+ Possess a valid driver’s license in good standing.

Base Salary Range: $72,000 - $84,500. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. This position is also eligible for straight-time overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm.
