Summary Statement
Are you interested in our connection to water? Do you want to teach the community about climate action? Join us this summer as a WaterShed Action Team member!
A WaterShed Action Team member plans and facilitates environmental education activities for summer youth and family programs at the newly remodeled WaterShed Education Center. You will use exhibits, art, and programs to teach people of all ages how to protect and conserve resources. This position works under general supervision and is designated as At-Will.
Essential Functions
Collaborates, plans, and teaches water and STEM educational activities for visitors at The WaterShed Education Center during WaterShed Wednesday events and other lessons and outreach. Works with the WaterShed Education Coordinator Lead and education staff on program development and implementation. Participates in team-building and environmental stewardship activities as scheduled.
Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
+ Must be at least 15 years of age.
+ Interest in water or the environment and working with children.
Ability to:
+ deal with individuals in a friendly and tactful manner;
+ work in indoor and outdoor conditions;
+ display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of city employees, the general public, and other organizations;
+ understand and comply with all rules, policies, and regulations;
+ maintain prompt and regular attendance;
+ communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and
+ perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor, and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
+ 1 year of experience working with youth from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
+ First Aid and CPR Certification.
Special Requirements
Applicants must be able to pass:
+ City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds and rarely lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds. Also, the employee is occasionally pushing/pulling up to 10 pounds and rarely pushing/pulling up to 75 pounds. The noise level is rarely moderate. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear, smell, and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Employees will stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and grasp. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.
