WBL Specialist Job Details Job Location Woodland - Laurel, MD Position Type Full Time Education Level 2 Year Degree Salary Range $25.61 Job Category Education Description ABOUT WOODLAND AND JOB CORPS CENTER The Woodland Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas: Electrical Wiring, Carpentry, Building Construction Technology, Culinary Arts, Advanced Training - Culinary Arts and Hotel & Lodging. We also assist students with job placement upon completion of their educational and career technical training. Each year we provide academic, vocational training, and placement services to approximately 9,000 young people from ages 16 to 24 primarily in a residential setting. Our academic and career technical training programs are accredited and lead to national industry-recognized credentials. Responsible to provide students with employability training leading to full-time jobs, higher education or advanced training. Coordinates and manages Work-Based Learning program ensuring students are actively participating in on- and off-Center on-the-job training assignments to improve employability skill-set. Provides students with transportation services and participates in Career Transition Readiness/Grad-90 program. POSITION SUMMARY Responsible to provide students with employability training leading to full-time jobs, highereducation or advanced training. Oversees Work-Based Learning program ensuring students areactively participating in on- and off-Center on-the-job training assignments to improveemployability skill-set. Provides students with transportation services and evaluates studentcompetencies. Conducts community outreach to established WBL sites and related MOU’s.Ensures integrity of student WBL documentation. SCHEDULE: Monday- Friday 7:45a - 4:45pm, no weekends. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Associate’s degree from an accredited school required. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited schoolpreferred. Prefer previous Job Corps or related program experience. Computer literacy andproficiency in spreadsheet and word processing applications required. Must possess a valid in-stateDriver’s License and meet the Company insurability requirements. MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISION N/A RESPONSIBILITIES o Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures no manipulation of student data.o Ensures all eligible students participate in WBL.o Markets WBL Program to staff and students and ensures the importance of WBL is understood.o Identifies viable WBL employer sites, establishes MOUs and conducts periodic OSHA and sitesupervision inspections.o Ensures Center meets or exceeds DOL/Company performance goals.o Interviews, recommends for hire, disciplines, recommends for termination and evaluates theperformance of the employees in the WBL program.o Establishes supportive/mentoring relationships with students throughout their enrollment andprovides employability and career counseling. Routinely evaluates student performance,updates ePCDP, PARs and identifies/remediates barriers preventing student achievement andsuccess.o Ensures student accountability procedures are compliant for all WBL students.o Provides transportation services to meet Center requirementso Produces quality work/assignments in a thorough, timely and accurate manner.o Maintains appropriate personal attendance, accountability and work productivity standards.o Plans, prioritizes and organizes assignments to meet established goals and deadlines.o Understands and applies job knowledge to effectively complete all required job responsibilities.o Proactively maintains the skills required to perform job duties. o Mentors, monitors and models the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.o Provides high-quality supervision and management for the student population. Takes swift andappropriate action and positively influences student behavior. Shows respect and courtesy tostudents and holds them accountable for their actions and behavior.o Provides quality programs and services for students and ensures that quality is maintainedand student needs are met. Pursues improvement and enhancement of programs and services.o Exchanges ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner andcontributes meaningfully to group efforts by offering relevant ideas and knowledge. Providesquality and timely information to DOL/Company when requested.o Effectively articulates thoughts and ideas. Identifies problems, analyzes causes and evaluatesappropriate solutions prior to taking or recommending actions. Follows up to ensureprompt/appropriate action is taken and that problems are in fact corrected.o Works in partnership with staff from all Departments to ensure effective supervision andservices are provided to students.o Accepts direction and supervision from the Center Director/Program Director/Center DutyOfficer/Shift Manager to include assignments to temporarily perform job responsibilities ofother departments and positions.o Other duties as assigned.
