VCA Canada CARE Centre is accepting applications for our 2024 Summer Veterinary Student 3rd year DVM position. This is a great opportunity to apply your classroom studies within a hospital environment and acquire first-hand experience in working closely with VCA Canada veterinary professionals.

Our Summer DVM Student position will provide you with invaluable insights into your career path post-graduation. As a valued member of our team, you will develop practical and professional skills by working under a licensed veterinarian and/or registered technicians/technologists.

You will be introduced to the inner workings of our hospitals while also gaining exposure and education in the following areas:

Patient intake and triagePatient handling and restraintClient care and relationship managementTreatment and hands-on compassionate careTechnical skills like IV catheter placement, NG tubes, urinary catheters etcObserve or assist in surgical & non-surgical procedures, and anesthesiaAssist with laboratory and imaging diagnosticsTrain in the use of in-house practice management softwareGeneral hospital maintenance

*The amount of responsibility, duties, supervision, and delegation will depend on your veterinary school year and provincial veterinary legislation guidelines*

Requirements:

Applicants must be enrolled in an AVMA-accredited DVM programLegally authorized to work in CanadaABVMA temporary DVM licenseMust be able to repeatedly lift at least 40 lbsExceptional client service skills that build trust and loyaltyCalm, compassionate, and nurturing attitude
