WEALTH MANAGEMENT DIRECTOR OF INVESTMENT COMPLIANCE

Major Duties:
Has a day-to-day management responsibility for a small Investment Services unit. Accountable for the assignment of work, the performance management process and for staffing of the unit. Participates in developing the strategic plan and manages the units' expenses. Develops investment policies and procedures to help revenue centers manage risk and operate within the framework of Northern Trust’s investment philosophy, ensuring strategies are designed to achieve specific investor goals.
Develops investment policies and procedures that help revenue centers manage investment risk activities for a full set of major fee revenue producing accounts, representing large and sensitive high net worth personal trusts, individual investments, and court appointed accounts.Measures and reports on compliance of programs designed to achieve investment objectives for specific individual or institutional clients.Administers the code of ethics for wealth management and oversees identification and management of conflicts of interest in the investment processServes on standing investment services committees and on ad hoc unit committees as appropriate.Seasoned multi-disciplinary expert with extensive technical and / or business knowledge and functional expertise.Focus of role is on execution of strategic direction of business function activities.Carries out complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issuesDisplays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity.Organizes the work of the team, assigns tasks, sets short-term priorities, monitors all activities and ensures timely and accurate completion of the work.Conducts performance management and career development processes and staffing and disciplinary actions.Provides input and support to budget management process.The ideal candidate will benefit from having the following competencies:
10 plus years of investments related experience in wealth management, asset management or other financial service organizations Prior management experience.Prior management experience.Knowledge of investment and portfolio management theory, accounting and financial principles and investment strategies and instruments, acquired through formal education and work experience, is required to manage risk of investment portfolios.Knowledge of investment terminology, characteristics of the variousmarketplaces, the laws and regulations governing trust investments and taxation, the bank's investment policies, procedures and strategies, acquired through work experience and formal education, is required to manage risk of investment portfolios.Communication skills are required to guide sensitive or difficult situations.Leadership and organizational skills are required to determine the unit goals, resources needed, and to assess and develop the skills of the staff.Applies broad industry knowledge and commercial awareness to drive financial performance.Completion of any of the following is highly preferred: MBA and/or CFA, CFP, CIMA, CPWA and CAIA.
