Weaned Pig Program Manager

Niman Ranch is part of Perdue Farms, a family-owned company heading into its second century of growth and innovation. **Summary** We are hiring a Weaned Pig Placement Manager that will be responsible for all functions of the Niman Ranch Wean to Finish Program. **Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities** + Coordinate weaned pig movements and optimize flows to meet producer needs. + Foster relationships with trucking companies and further develop trucking routes to keep costs minimized, including negotiating rates. + Obtain health papers from veterinarians and dispatch loads in a timely manner. + Execute wean to finish contracts in all phases in conjunction with team members. + Foster, track, and execute growth of wean to finish spaces in conjunction with Field Agents. + Compile all weekly weaned pig grade sheets for billing. + Track return percentage of market hogs to plant. + Complete annual visits to coordinated sow farms to gain knowledge of pig sources. + Forecast weaned pig placement numbers for short, intermediate, and long term. + Work with Field Agent team to instill desire for continuous improvement. + Maintain functional knowledge of shipping activities and weekly forecasts. + Work with Director of Live Operations to create the long-term vision that contributes to the achievement of production goals outlined by the Senior Management Team. + Other duties may be assigned, as necessary. **Minimum Education and Experience** Bachelors Degree in Animal Science, or applicable field, with 5+ years of swine management experience. The ideal candidate will also have: + Practical swine production experience. + Ability to do overnight travel 1-3 nights per month with up to 50% overnight travel during some periods of the year. + Ability to maintain a valid Drivers License **Experience Preferred** + Sales and recruiting experience a plus. **Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements** Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings. May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. May need to access files, supplies and equipment. When in a plant or farm environment: Exposure primarily consists of a variety of hot and cold temperatures.
