Web Content Specialist

Reporting to the Manager of Web Content Research, the Web Content Specialist is responsible for writing, managing and publishing content on the public website JAX.org. Proactively developing and monitoring content, the specialist plays an important role in ensuring the accuracy of the website, its consistency with JAX’s brand and messaging, and its alignment with established user journeys.

The specialist coordinates with colleagues JAX-wide to implement and enforce processes for maintaining the website with a focus on excellence and timeliness and works across the communications and marketing team to identify and address opportunities for improvement. This role also contributes to the creation and dissemination of content that delivers on communications and marketing strategies and helps cultivate a compelling online environment that fosters deepened understanding of the JAX mission and increased engagement across a variety of audiences.

Key Responsibilities (What you contribute)

Work proactively with stakeholders to create, revise and update JAX.org content as a core communications and marketing platform.Serve as the primary point of contact for all website update requests and as a liaison with stakeholders to address feedback and content needs.As part of the digital product group, support user journey mapping development and implement data-driven strategies for reviewing content at scale.Collaborate with content creators and the communications and marketing team to enhance user experience, and search engine optimization and recommend and implement new technology or features to meet the evolving needs of JAX.org users and visitors.Assist in the identification and implementation of short-term projects and long-term content management objectives.Develop new pages as per stakeholder requirements under the direction of the manager while maintaining a consistent brand-focused content approach.Validate and ensure the accuracy of new content before publishing and strive for consistency across the site as it relates to content and user experience.Effectively manage multiple web content projects simultaneously, including publication and broader strategy initiatives and maintain transparent communication with team members regarding project status.Propose and execute improvements in support of marketing, search engine optimization and user experience goals and in adherence with best practices.Perform web testing and quality assurance to ensure content is accurate, linking is correct, browser compatibility, etc.; troubleshoot sophisticated issues with web pages and fixes or facilitates resolution of problems.Potential additional responsibilities as the team seeks achievement of its strategic goals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (What you're good at)

Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of related experience in web/digital design, management, publishing and strategy, content management, and/or SEO.Experience in HTML/CSS and tools including Sitecore, Drupal, or other CMS systems, Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft 365.Proficiency in CMS functionality and in-depth understanding of web publishing technology, including site search, taxonomy, metadata, structured content and multimedia.Solid understanding of project management principles. Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage multiple web projects with different stakeholders simultaneously while adhering to deadlines and web content best practices.Knowledge of responsive design principles as they apply to web content and ability to use insights to guide strategy recommendations.Proven understanding of SEO principles, including keyword research, page rankings and usability; and, understanding of information architecture, audience segmentation/journeys, web governance and effective web writing practices.Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong editing and proofreading capabilities. Content writing experience is strongly preferred and will be prioritized.Strong interpersonal skills with a proactive approach to teamwork.Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement original ideas.Continuous awareness of best practices and emerging trends in web design, development, and technology.Knowledge of and experience enforcing organization processes, procedures and protocols for web communications.Technical proficiency in web production, image handling, publishing and design, illustration, presentation preparation, animation, web interaction, and related capabilities.Extremely detail-oriented and able to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly evolving, deadline and results-driven environment.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.A positive team player with a proactive approach and a strong commitment to ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of JAX.org.A demonstrated commitment to mission-driven causes.Active presence on social media, with awareness of current trends a plus.Experience in a nonprofit, healthcare or biomedical research environment is a plus.

The salary range is  $63,744 - $106,723. Salary is determined based on qualifications and experience.
