Position: The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is hiring a Web Design and Content Specialist for the State Office located in Boise, Idaho. Salary Range: $29.75 - $33.71 Responsibilities: Content Specialist: · Designs and develops clear, accurate, and professional web pages, tools, and applications for DEQ's public website and intranet that align with customer and agency needs · Drafts, edits, and/or revises web content and copy to ensure all material is accessible and understandable to a general audience · Ensures site content is organized, up-to-date, logical, accurate, professional, and user-friendly · Uses webmaster tools (i.e., HTML code, plug-ins, scripts, SharePoint tools, etc.) to improve user experience · Responds to webmaster emails; maintains web page subscription lists and email distribution lists · Uses web analytics to generate reports Social Media: · Drafts clear, accurate, and professional social media content to inform, engage, and educate the general public · Works with DEQ's graphic designer to develop engaging and informative graphics · Ensures all published content aligns with DEQ’s branding and style guides · Responds to social media inquiries, in coordination with the relevant DEQ program Special projects: · Develops in-depth knowledge of statewide and regional air, water, and waste issues to support communication activities · Assists with outreach activities, workflow improvements, and other special projects as needed Minimum Qualifications: Some knowledge of: producing content including written copy, photos, graphics and video for websites and other publications and distributing those materials to various media and other interested parties; supervision. Experience: using journalistic styles and techniques including writing, researching and editing, photography and videography principles and practices; developing presentations displays, brochures and other outreach materials; and developing and delivering oral presentations to diverse groups including complex topics. Desired Specialty Minimum Qualification Degree in marketing, journalism, English, or related field. Some experience in digital content creation, outreach, and/or social media management. Proficient in WordPress and SharePoint. Physical Requirements: • Ability to sit and work on a computer for 2-4 hours at a time. • Ability to bend and reach for filing purposes. • Some periods of heavy reading and typing are required. • Ability to lift 30 pounds when working with file boxes.
