Complete Description:

The District's DC.Gov web portal provides online government services and information to District residents, businesses and other interested parties. The portal consists of over 100 District agency websites.

OCTO’s Web Maintenance Team is responsible for maintaining the web standards and publishing processes for District of Columbia government websites that make up the DC.Gov web portal.  The team manages website content publication workflow; provides editorial and standards oversight  for all content, troubleshoots minor issues and responds to emergency situations that require immediate public notification; and assists and advises other District projects in integrating new content into the DC.Gov web portal.

The candidate will assist in maintaining current agency websites as the District transitions from the legacy content management system (DSF) and a second content management system (Vignette/OpenText) to the District's permanent content management system (Drupal). The candidate will perform daily editing tasks, work with agency staff, and publish agency content to the DC.Gov web portal.

The candidate may also participate in transition activity such as assisting in project tasks related to content migration efforts: client relations and change management, task management and documentation, content preparation, agency site content migration, agency site editorial review, photo and graphic resizing, training, agency site launches, etc.

The candidate will also be expected to carry special assignments, such as building new websites in the Drupal CMS.

While the Web Maintenance Team typically works during weekday business hours (with core hours from 9 AM to 4 PM), it is often called upon to post content or troubleshoot issues after hours. In cases when the issue cannot be postponed to the following business day, an editor must assist the agency to post that content in the evening. OCTO is searching for a candidate who can spend up to 35% of his or her time during evening non core business times. This translates into the ability to work consistenly up until 7 PM or 8 PM on weekdays.

The Web Maintenance Team also employs a weekend on call schedule, with editors being assigned to be on call one weekend per rotation. This editor would be expected to participate in that schedule as well.

The candidate will follow universal content management principles as well as District of Columbia web standards in maintaing DC.Gov sites.

It is the candidate’s responsibility to become familiar with District of Columbia terminology, District services and the agencies that provide such services. Some fact finding and research is required.
