Skills Required:

 

Requirements 
 5 + years solid Websphere System Management and Architecture experience managing mission critical 24/7 applications. 
 Infrastructure Architecture experience with Websphere 6.1 and 7.x ND platforms and familiarity with RHEL V4/V5/V6 64-bit Unix operating systems. 
 Solid understanding of Websphere command line scripting interface and Jython language. 
 Experience with configuration and use of Java Application Performance Monitoring tools. 
 Working knowledge and experience on DB2 and MS SQL Server based database system with Type 2 and Type 4 implementation. 
 Experience with setting up secure environments with SSL, Self Signed and CA issued certs and keystores (jks, kdb) / Setup and integrate applications with mutual auth models. 
 Experience working in DMZ environments with good understanding of TCP/IP, hardware load-balancing (ideally F5), firewalls, multi-tiered architectures. 
 Troubleshooting of WAS V6.1, V7.0 environments and applications (analyze JVM logs, Trace Logs, FFDC, native logs, java core, heap dumps)

 

 

Position Description

A Websphere Application Server (WAS) consultant will provides support, hands on experience, and mentoring to software engineers for application implementation on top of Websphere. The candidate must have professional level experience in the installation, configuration, administration and problem resolution for WAS XD (V6.X), WAS ND (V6.x and V7.0), and ideally with Apache Tomcat or other Java servlet container technologies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate hands-on experience implementing and tuning WAS environments for high-availability, high-performance and scalability. 

Responsibilities 
 Architect, design and build Websphere XD and ND (32 Bit / 64 Bit) platforms to support client-facing enterprise applications. 
 Recommend changes to improve performance / stability and accommodate application designs. 
 Configure / tune caching, DRS, thread pooling and JVM heaps. 
 Configure / tune J2C resource adapters, connection factories and MDB activation specifications. 
 Coordinate performance testing of major software releases. 
 Advanced investigation and resolution of all application and environment issues for 24/7 mission critical applications utilizing IBM tools. 
 Fully configure and utilize Java Application Performance Monitoring products for troubleshooting, reporting, capacity planning and trending. 
 Work with Solution Architects, Operations, Application Architects and fellow engineers in planning and designing optimum configurations for Java applications running on Websphere.
