The Cleaning Technician is part of the housekeeping team and is responsible for maintaining the interior of the Serenity House facility in a safe, clean, orderly and attractive manner.  The Inpatient Housekeeper fully supports the Core Values and is accountable for upholding the Standards of Behavior of VNA Health.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAssure the assigned work areas are maintained in a safe, clean, comfortable and attractive mannerKeep assigned work area free of hazardous objects (protruding mop/broom handles, supplies)Assure that established infection control and universal precaution practices are maintained when performing housekeeping or laundry proceduresReport all hazardous conditions, equipment to your supervisorAssure housekeeping and laundry supplies and equipment are clean and properly storedUse protective clothing/devices when performing tasks that involve the handling of infectious waste, and/or blood, body fluidsSort and wash soiled laundry in accordance to established procedures, in a manner which prevents the spread of infectionClean linen is sorted and handled in a way to prevent cross-contaminationHonor the patient’s personal space and propertyMaintain necessary records and reports in a timely mannerAssists kitchen staff with washing dishes, cleaning carts and cleaning floors
Position Qualifications:One year of housekeeping experience in hospital environment, healthcare or related area, preferredHigh school diploma (or equivalent) is requiredUtilizes proper ergonomics and body mechanic techniquesDisplays initiative and able to work with minimal direct supervisionHas empathy for the needs of the terminally ill, frail and impaired
