The City of Rockville, Maryland (City) is seeking friendly, dependable individuals to work part-time, unbenefited as a weekend custodian.
Essential Job FunctionsWork hours are Saturday, 6:00am to 12:00pm and Sunday, 6:00am to 12:00pm each week. Responsible for table and chair set-up, substantial cleaning, heavy lifting (50 pounds), and maintenance work at actively used facilities and properties, including but not limited to, showers, locker rooms, bathrooms, offices, lobbies, exercise rooms, public and stage areas at a theater, park restrooms and pavilions, and large events venues serving hundreds of guests. Facilities for custodial service include Glenview Mansion, Cottage, F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre, Social Hall, Recreation Services Building, Croydon Creek Nature Center, Elwood Smith Community Center, Pump House Community Center, and up to (10) park pavilion restrooms and pavilions throughout the City of Rockville, Maryland. Accurately evaluate and report supply inventories at various work sites. Ability to appropriately interact with patrons, guests, clients, vendors, contractors, and city staff at various levels.
QualificationsMust be able to consistently work the required shift schedule each week. Must be capable of strenuous physical labor. Ability and willingness to service various facilities and properties throughout the city.Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle to get to multiple work locations.Must be able to move freely through the building, understand directions, and communicate with other workers.Effectively complete workload within the work shift hours.Work independently and without direct supervision.Ability to work well and collaborate as a part of a team. Ability to set-up and troubleshoot general custodial issues.Punctual, reliable, dependable, and consistent in work output.Excellent customer service and communication skills.Organized and attention to detail skills.Take a proactive approach to risk management and facility and guest safety.Ability to resolve conflicts in a professional manner.Have personal e-mail address and cell phone.Knowledge of Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Docs, Survey Tools, etc.).Dress code is casual and may require clothing forrain, snow, wind, cold, heat, etc.
EXPERIENCE:
At least one year of custodial and labor experience.EDUCATION:
High school diploma or above.REQUIREMENTS:
Recreation and Parks requires all facility staff to get and maintain a valid CPR, AED, and first aid certification (certification is provided through the City).Possess a valid driver’s license.All employees and volunteers who drive a City owned/leased vehicle or private vehicle on official City business must complete the Maryland Vehicle Administration MVA flagging form and be cleared. Employees and volunteers who possess a driver’s license that is not issued by the State of Maryland must submit with the form with an original printout of their driving record. The information on the form will be used by the Department of Human Resources in accordance with the City’s Driver’s License Check and Flagging Program.SCHEDULE:
