The Weekend Technical Director & Video Editor coordinates the efforts of all technical operations during newscasts and other live and recorded productions, and operates editing equipment to produce images or scenes for newscasts and other programming.

Observes pictures through monitors and determines compositionActs as a liaison between engineering and production departmentsWorks with the news producers to deliver a clean and high energy newscastSwitches video sources and given direction at the same time during live broadcastsTests equipment to ensure proper operationOrganizes and edits together raw footage into a continuous video story according to scripts or instructions from producers or news managersReviews assembled footage on screens or monitors to determine whether corrections are necessaryTrims recorded segments to specified lengths and reassembles segments into sequences that present stories with maximum effectDetermines the specific audio and visual effects necessary to complete editing assignmentsSets up and operates computer editing systems, electronic titling systems, video switching equipment, and digital video effects units to produce a final product for broadcast or onlineSelects and combines the most effective shots of each scene to form a logical and smoothly running video news storyConfers with other personnel to discuss assignments, work product and desired effectsMaintains editing equipmentPerforms other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:

Fluency in EnglishExcellent communication skills, both oral and writtenProficiency with video editing equipment, computers, telephones, and other office equipmentProficiency with broadcast control equipmentAbility to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-stress environment
