BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 company, is seeking a Weld Engineer for our Combat Missions manufacturing site in Aiken, South Carolina. + In this role, you will support combat vehicle production focusing on Weld process training and compliance. + You will lead a diverse group of talented professionals in a fast paced, challenging environment - learning and growing as you participate in the mission to support our Armed Forces who protect our nation. + You and your team will provide production welder training, develop and optimize weld school curriculum, monitor welder performance and maintain records to document proficiency. + Additionally, you will oversee the process for documenting welder certifications and the timely renewal of certifications. + You and your team will monitor weld equipment effectiveness and implement strategies to ensure equipment availability and reliability. + You will also provide key input into Capital Project Implementations with a focus on emerging weld process technologies and act as a Project Leader during equipment / software installations. **Required Education, Experience, & Skills** + Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or closely related degree from an accredited college or university. Relevant experience and education may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor s degree. + 10 years experience in a variety of weld processes to include significant exposure to GTAW and GMAW. + Experience developing and implementing a weld training program + Experience in testing welder proficiency and documenting the results + Demonstrated ability to read, understand and interpret applicable weld code and develop PQR and WPS procedures and documents that meet the requirements as specified within the code. + Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5-2009 + Working knowledge of fundamental engineering concepts, practices, and procedures. + Proficiency with current computer applications and technologies in applicable engineering disciplines to include MS Office Suite. + Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers to solve moderately complex technical problems. + Demonstrated commitment to safety principals, sharing the common responsibility of identifying and correcting unsafe conditions and behaviors + Strong organizational skills and proven ability to coordinate multiple priorities to achieve a deliverable deadline. + Demonstrated ability to lead a team of engineers to meet strategic goals and objectives + Demonstrated self-starter, who requires minimal supervision + Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal **Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills** + Knowledge of weld inspection processes to include NDT processes + Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) or Certified Weld Educator (CWE) certification a plus. + Knowledge of additional weld processes such as resistance welding, FSW, SAW and EBW + Experience with automation solutions including robotic welding and positioning devices + Experience using 3D CAD Software such as PTC Creo (Pro/Engineer, ProductView). + Knowledge of process data collection systems (Lincoln Checkpoint, Miller Insight) + Knowledge of ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, JBA) to be used for process routing development, configuration management, Bills of Material definition. + Knowledge of metallurgy, welding and finishing processes. + Experience working with military ground vehicles. + Familiarity with relevant military and commercial design standards. **Pay Information** Full-Time Salary Range: $105254 - $178931 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
