Welder (2nd shift) - Harrison, OH (Job ID 1156-102). Position Summary and Purpose: Perform all types of production welding and any welding necessary during final machine assembly and shipment. *Second Shift starts at either 2:30; 3:30; or 4:30pm (optional year round) and comes with a $2.50/hr. differential pay! Duties and Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL: + Receive work assignment, obtain and read drawings to ascertain welding requirements such as size and type of electrode, size fillet, location of weld, type of weld, etc. + Secure part to positioner or other equipment or floor stand for efficient assembling and welding, manually or with remote overhead crane + As needed, move portable welding equipment to work site; select proper amperage needed; strike or draw arc and weld performing horizontal, vertical and overhead single and multiple passes; reposition piece as required + Clean weld spatter and weld between passes + Check weld for proper size fillet, appearance and quality + Use hand burning torch to cut material as required; heat metal to bend or straighten; arc gouge part as required. May torch harden work pieces as required + Perform above operations on carbon and alloy steel fabrications such as braces, housings, bases, gauge supports, compact crowns, pipes, shipping braces and others of similar complexity. May tie machine to rail car by welding braces and tie rods + Maintain a clean and orderly work area and perform all assignments in a safe manner and in accordance with established quality procedures Education and Experience: REQUIRED: + High School diploma or certificate of equivalency + Minimum 2 years prior similar welding experience Valued But Not Required: + AWS certification Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Characteristics, etc. REQUIRED: + Welding knowledge of carbon and alloy steel, cast iron, stainless steel and aluminum of various sizes + Excellent math skills and understanding of basic concepts + Ability to read and interpret prints and engineered drawings + Demonstrated manual dexterity and accuracy + Attention to detail with ability to multitask + Ability to work from a ladder or platform, and occasionally in close quarters and awkward positions + Commitment to company Core Values Valued But Not Required: + PC skills and general computer knowledge Tools, Technology and Equipment Used: Coated electrode, shielded arc, submerged, electro-slag, and carbon arc welding equipment; remote overhead crane, hoists, oxyfuel torch, grinding wheel, ladder, basic hand tools and chisels, simple measuring tools and gauges, gloves, face shield Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, reaching with hands and arms and climbing ladders daily. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and to climb or balance. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud at times. The employee must regularly lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
