Eaton’s ES GEIS BLD division is currently seeking a Welder - 3rd Shift. The core hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 pm to 6:30 pm. The rate for this position is $26.25 per hour plus a $1.00 shift differential. Please note that the salary information shown above is only a general guideline. What you’ll do:Position Overview:
The Welder position is primarily focused on Welding for our cable tray department. The Welder will direct and assist Assembler II’s with assembling ladders as well as welding the cable tray ladders and fittings. The Welder will handle materials and parts up to 50-pounds frequently throughout the shift with or without accommodation.
In this function, you will:
• Perform simple repetitive bench assembly of parts and components.
• Use bolts, screws, hand tools, clips, and other fastening devices.
• Work under close supervision and may work from models, samples, or simple diagrams.
• Handle 50-pound parts with or without accommodation to assist with large-part construction.
• Remove excess weld, slag, spatter, and rough spots from workpieces using grinders, brushes, or scrapers.
• Support all facility Continuous Improvement and LEAN initiatives including, but not limited to:
o Maintain 5-S (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain) throughout the shop floor and office areas.
o Track and sustain all visual management tools such as, but not limited to layered audits, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) boards, and any additional LEAN tools that are deemed necessary to provide direction, goals, and status to the shop floor.
o Encourage, support, and actively participate in Kaizen improvements and events throughout the facility, department, and area of responsibility.
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
• Minimum of 1-year prior experience setting up and operating machinery & presses
• Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future
• No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Reno, NV will be considered. Active-duty military candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience with manufacturing fabrication.
• A High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrated welding ability/knowledge - A welding demonstration is preferred.
• Set up and troubleshoot welding equipment.
• Examine workpieces for defects and measure workpieces to ensure conformance.
• Ability to weld aluminum and steel.
• Ability to read blueprints and shop orders. Responsible for safety, quality, production quotas, and all documentation associated with product movement and confirmations.
Train on the following:
Introduction to material flow (setups)Understanding shop orders, part description, BOM, inspection sheets, etc.Understanding engineering drawings to identify location and types of welds.Operate machinery and presses safely & proficiently.Run multiple presses and changeovers/set-ups for multiple dies.Accurately read, interpret, & produce parts from blueprints and shop drawings. Identify different gauges and types of raw materials.
