LCRA is looking for a welder to join our team that builds the critical infrastructure of Central Texas! This role's workplace will be in Austin, Texas. You will work with a skilled team and receive valuable training through on-the-job experiences, as well as, set training curriculum. You will be trusted to:
- Set up and operate all welding equipment.
- Interpret and follow diagrams and prints to fabricate, modify and repair steel parts and steel structures.
- Operate heavy equipment (e.g., overhead crane, forklift and iron working machines) in performing construction and maintenance tasks.
- Maintain tools, equipment and facilities for assigned work area.
- Lay out and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templates.
- Position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools.
You qualify with:
- One or more years of experience in welding and steel fabrication, or other relevant experience.
- Certification(s) or degree(s) in welding, steel fabrication or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
You are a great fit with:
- Knowledge of welding and cutting methods
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment operations
- Skill in the use of handheld manual and power tools and welding equipment
- Basic skill in reading and interpreting diagrams and prints
- Skill in verbal and written communication
- Basic skill level in office productivity applications (such as email, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.)
- Ability to work in a team environment
