The Welder will efficiently set up and operate welding machines for assembling parts of fabricated metal products by performing routine tasks with minimal supervision. This role requires a continuous growth in knowledge and skills, guided by detailed instructions as needed, to ensure high-quality work and compliance with safety standards.
Responsibilities Perform routine welding tasks by following detailed instructions and minimal supervision. Maintain a proven working knowledge of various welding principles and procedures. Identify and address basic welding issues with guidance from supervisors. Continue training to understand and use drawings and specifications for determining dimensions, tolerances, and sequences of operations. Utilize computer systems to access relevant work documents, including engineering drawings and routings. Gain familiarity with work instructions, tools, and equipment needed for welding operations. Adhere to safety policies and procedures, including operating overhead cranes and forklifts safely (training provided). Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and programs. Provide informal guidance and support to new team members. Embody core values such as responsibility, integrity, innovation, collaboration, and excellence. Exhibit commitment, integrity, teamwork, and drive in all interactions. Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Produce quality products with minimal defects by detecting and addressing issues promptly. Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Complete routine reports as needed. Solve practical problems involving a variety of concrete variables and interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Apply basic math concepts in daily tasks. Pass designated qualification tests and be qualified in a minimum of four welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and SAW). Be able to pass horizontal pipe tests. Requirements High school diploma or GED required. Preference for candidates with a one-year certificate from a technical school or college.
