Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the department lead, you will use hand-welding equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products. Basic knowledge and understanding of welding, grinding, and similar tasks are required. Training will take place on the 1st shift.
ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate entry-level welding ability on steel.Position material to be welded using standard fixtures in most cases, and apply hand-eye coordination to achieve the desired weld.Weld components in all positions: flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead.Regulate heat and wire speed of MIG and pulse arc welders.Operate MIG and pulse arc wire feed welders, plasma torch, oxyacetylene cutting, stick weld, and other welding equipment.Clamp, hold, tack-weld, grind, and/or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.Detect faulty operation of equipment and/or defective materials and notify the supervisor.Inspect completed parts for defects, ensuring welds are free of voids, excess fill material, and slag is cleaned up.Use air tools such as grinders, cutting wheels, and dual action sander/grinders.Grind or DA excess welds to the desired finish.Check and monitor the fitting and welding processes to avoid warping or distortion of materials.Read, interpret, and work from specifications, drawings, prints, and basic welding symbols.Confer with the supervisor to receive instructions and exchange production information.Use and read measuring tools such as tape measure, calculator, square, etc.Essential SkillsMIG weldingTIG weldingSpot weldingSaw operationDrill pressRollerWhy Work Here?

Work Environment
This role is based in a metal fabrication and processing plant. Steel toe shoes are required. The dress code includes jeans and a t-shirt.
