Job SummaryIn this position the employee will assist other welders, keep work area clear and in safe working condition. Cut and prepare piping and learn additional welding skills.
This position involves working out of town for several months at a time, (4-5 days a week when applicable) and potentially 60% of the year.
Duties and Responsibilities Must hold and maintain a welding certificate for ASME IX Must hold and maintain a welding certificate for API 1104 Must Hold and maintain a Tig welding certificate ASME IX. Keep work area clear and in safe working condition Learn and obtain UGI Energy Services OQ training certificates for piping, pipefitting, and welding roles and responsibilities. Fabricate piping segments/assemblies under the direction of project leaders, project supervisor, and/or project manager. Continue and learn changing welding skills, pipe fitting skills, and rigging skills according to UGI Energy Services safety department documents and OQ training program. Maintain OQ Training assignments in UGI Energy Services OQ training program Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needs to have a good understanding and preferred 3 years’ experience in mechanical construction and welding. Must have a full understanding of welding WPS/PQR requirements when welding on projects. Must have a full understanding of pipe fitting requirements, measurements, weights of materials for rigging, and the ability to build pipe assemblies, structures according to UGI Energy Services standards. Must have a full understanding of the daily requirement to fulfill the JSA’s, work permits, and safety policies according to the UGI Energy Services safety manual. Must be OQ qualified the building and construction trades including welding, rigging, pipe fitting and construction safety. Must read and have a full understanding of the UGI Energy Services’ policies and procedures manual Must read and understand UGI Energy Services Safety manual. Must be willing to learn and understand gas industry practices and standards and keep up with ongoing changes. Must be willing to accept direct supervision from the project leaders, Projects Supervisor, and Project Manager without conflict.
Construction Environment - Field work will require employee to possibly endure the following conditions:
Extreme weather conditions (heat and cold) Working around and with rotating and loud machinery. Understand the safety policies of working on ladders. Working around hazardous chemicals. Long distance driving will be required. Working in trenches and dirty environments (not often but is a potential) Working with all-terrain forklifts, all-terrain boom lifts, backhoes, overhead cranes, shop forklifts, and scissors lifts.
