Essential Functions:

Reads blueprints, diagrams, and drawings to properly layout projects; estimates time and materials, and orders necessary supplies; maintains proper levels of materials and tools; and completes purchase orders, maintains records of time and material.
Inspects equipment for necessary repairs; removes and replaces worn parts on equipment; welds and rebuilds worn or damaged equipment and parts; and welds aluminum, stainless steel, brass and cast iron metal, when needed.
Provides welding assistance to mechanics in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment; straightens, reinforces, replaces, repairs, or welds existing containers; and fabricates materials for daily job assignments and special projects.
Installs and repairs various metal surfaces such as knocker bars, gates, grates, fences, sweepers, broken welds or parts.
Repairs and modifies metal surfaces in trucks and equipment to resolve immediate safety concerns.
Performs yard operations such as minor repair, sorting of scrap material, yard operations cleanup and related duties as required.
May maintain and inspect commercial refuse containers and compactors to ensure compliance with specifications.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required, vocational or technical training in welding or a related field; three years of experience in welding; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
