Welder

The Welder is responsible for handling all fabrication welding and repair welding activities within their assigned site.  This will include identifying casting defects and excavating then weld repairing as needed.  In addition, the welder will be required to reclaim fits as identified in the DCIQ process.  This role must be capable of maintaining necessary certifications.  The Welder will also support any fabrication activities within the facility which may include pipe fabrication or structural welding.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Work safely while helping colleagues work safely and utilizing Stop Work Authority when appropriateLead and participate in Pre-Job briefs with team leads and peers to understand job expectationsFollow all routers and assembly procedures needed to accurately repair and assemble rotating equipmentWilling to provide input on router and work process improvementPlan and lay out work from blueprints and/or manufacturer’s specification sheetsSelect the appropriate welding method, such as TIG, MIG or stickMaintain welder continuity logsMaintain appropriate welder certifications and be willing to obtain additional certifications/qualifications as neededPerform plumbing and pipe-fitting welds to close tolerancesExcavate and weld repair castings and reclaim fits Develop and reverse-design piping systems and fixtures for reassembly and welding as requiredPersonally, verify the quality of finished work, demonstrating an in-depth understanding of specifications and workmanship Collaborate with machinists and assemblers on the team to discuss and solve problems relating to repairs and equipmentInterface with production planners and customers to discuss the condition of all critical pump components when necessaryClean and maintain machines and tools, and keep an organized workspace  Communicate clearly to peers and supervisors any related job issuesAbility to work efficiently within fixed time windows for each manufacturing processWillingness to work with local team on developing new tools and hardware as part of on-going Continuous Improvement projects within the facilityUtilize cranes, lifting devices, and fork trucksComply with all Flowserve policies and procedures, specifically around time and attendance, safety, and productivity

Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent3+ years welding experience in a manufacturing or repair environment, working with heavy metals such as 300 and 400 stainless steel, Inconel, and carbon steel TIG, MIG and stick welding experience and certifications requiredMust be certified to work to ASME Section IX Must own set of personal SAE hand tools and measurement instruments (micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, etc.) and a roll-around toolboxAble to read and interpret prints, shop drawings, assembly checklists, and other written work instructionsAccurately set up and read precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, and other gaugesAble to define, evaluate, and discuss quality workmanshipMust be able to effectively communicate job status and support handovers from shift to shiftMust show a customer-service mindset for on-time delivery and quality workMust be able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 25 pounds with a full range of hand and upper-body motion to work with tools and parts.Basic computer aptitude to learn data entry systems as well as Microsoft Word and OutlookProficient verbal and written communication skills in English and able to effectively understand work instructions, safety procedures, and company policies.Experience working in a cross-functional, diverse, and responsive team
