**Stick Welder - San Diego, CA** **Job Description** + Welders will be responsible for welding parts in position for the fabrication of vessels, tanks, or other structural assemblies. This includes preparing the workplace for welding by cleaning and/or preheating, examining weld sizes of weld beads, and welding together metal components of products based on layout, blueprints, diagrams, work orders, welding procedures, or oral instructions. **Responsibilities** + Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter. + Complete welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions. + Set up and operate welding equipment and select proper electrodes according to metals to be joined or as instructed. + Perform grinding and joint preparation for NDT processes. + Use flux cored inner shield and dual shield welding along with oxy-acetylene torching, air-arc, weld-wire gas, stick and pipe flange. + Construct or repair metal products by joining parts either manually using various welding methods (including electric arc, MIG, TIG, and oxy-acetylene welding) or by machine. + Perform carbon to carbon and stainless to carbon stick welding. **Essential Skills** + Proficiency in MIG welding, stick welding, flux core welding, and TIG welding. + Perform carbon to carbon & stainless to carbon stick welding. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Must be able to obtain DBIDS. **Work Environment** + Work will be performed at various shipyard facilities in San Diego, including North Island, the Naval Base (32nd street), NASSCO, CMSD, and BAE. The role involves working in diverse environments, requiring adherence to safety protocols and the use of protective gear. **Job Type & Location** + This is a Contract-To-Hire position based out of San Diego, California. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $32.00/hr.
