**Welder and Fitter** **Daily per diem + Hotel** **Job Description** As a Welder Fitter, you will play a crucial role in the construction and repair of commercial vessels. Your primary responsibilities will include fitting and aligning metal components, ensuring they meet specifications, and preparing them for welding. **Responsibilities** + Read and understand engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials and task sequences. + Position, align, and fit parts according to specifications using tools like squares, rulers, and measuring tapes. + Tack-weld fitted parts together and prepare them for final welding. + Operate machines such as shears, grinders, and cutting torches to shape and assemble metal components. + Verify that all work meets quality standards and specifications. + Move heavy parts into position, often requiring lifting and maneuvering in confined spaces. **Essential Skills** + Ability to read blueprints and schematics. + Familiarity with welding processes. + 3-5 years of experience in ship fitting or a related field. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience in fabrication, blueprint reading, shipyard operations, welding, ship fitting, hand tool usage, shipbuilding, assembly, 2G & 3G welding. + Skills in tack welding, fitting & assembly, flux core, MIG, structural steel. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.50/hr.
