Summary PUERTO RICO NATIONAL GUARD ARMY TECHNICIAN VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Duty Location: Maneuver Area Training and Equipment Site (MATES), CSJTC, Salinas, PR Responsibilities This position requires military membership in the Puerto Rico Army National Guard (PRARNG). Selected applicant(s) will be required to complete an online Onboarding process. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This position requires military membership in the Puerto Rico Army National Guard (PRARNG). If you are not a military member of the PRARNG (i.e., Airman, civilian, active-duty Soldier, prior service, guard member from another state, reservist, IRR, State Guard, etc.), you must contact the Recruiting and Retention (R&R) Office at (787) 289-1400 extension 2015 or 2008 and request the PRARNG Military Basic Requirements (MBR) Certification. If the MBR certification is not submitted, or you do not meet the requirements to be a member of the PRARNG, your application will not be screened. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: HRO MUST process and clear the Department of Defense (DoD), Priority Placement Program (PPP), prior to advertising all internal and external job vacancies and promotion announcements. Area 1 = All permanent Warrant Officers and Enlisted members employees (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Army National Guard. Area 2 = All indefinite Warrant Officers and Enlisted members employees (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Army National Guard. Area 3 = All Warrant Officers and Enlisted currently serving members of the Puerto Rico Army National Guard. Area 4 = Warrant Officers and Enlisted Prior (former) members of the Puerto Rico Army National Guard. Area 6 = Applicants who meet all requirements to become Warrant Officers and Enlisted members of the Puerto Rico Army National Guard. (If the MBR certification is not submitted, your application will not be screened). First round consideration will be given to Area 1 Candidates. (All other Areas will be screened only in the event that there are no qualified or recommended Candidates) To prevent a grade inversion, military rank allowed for this position will be determined at the final evaluation of the vacancy announcement considering the military rank of the supervisor. Acceptance of any military technician position may cause the termination of entitlements and eligibility for all military bonuses and student loan repayments. DUTIES: As a WELDER (D1215000), WG-3703-10, you will perform a variety of welding in support of maintenance activities. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work involves standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and crawling. Work may be done in awkward and cramped positions such as when welding in hard-to-reach places. Frequently handles objects weighing up to 40 pounds and, occasionally, objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Lifts and carries heavier items with assistance. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed inside and outside, sometimes in bad weather, and in areas that are noisy, dirty, and smoky. Exposed to fumes, infrared and ultraviolet radiation, heat, flying sparks, and the glare of torches and heated materials. There is possibility of eye injury, electrical shock, burns, broken bones, and the chance of cuts when working with sharp objects. There is also discomfort when wearing protective clothing, gloves, and flash shield or eye goggles. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the basic knowledge of welding processes. Must have knowledge of technical orders, blueprints, and specifications. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must possess at least ONE (1) year in the occupational series 3703 or the equivalent EIGHTEEN (18) months of specialized experience performing or supervising duties such as reading and interpreting blueprints and sketches; performing precision welding on jigs, dies, engineering and automotive equipment; applying wide range of manual welding processes and accomplishing difficult welds; determining techniques to use and materials for weld required; making welds that require complete penetration and fusion of base and filler metals. Education There are NO educational requirements for this position at this time.
