Position Summary: 

Bush Hog is one of the most recognized and successful names in the Agricultural Market.  The Welder II is a key position in the Company and will support and contribute to the company goals of profitability, return on investment, inventory turnover, and accident prevention.  The Welder II, under direct supervision by Team Leader or Supervisor, layouts, fits and welds fabricated steel frames and/or metal for one to two product lines using MIG welding equipment.  Performs welds on parts or subassemblies.  Verifies the welds meet all quality standards.

Essential Functions of the Job:

Focus, communicate, encourage and contribute to Safety in all aspects of the job and all company meetings. Works safely in all aspects of daily duties and assignments with safe work procedures and practice good housekeeping to ensure safety of him/herself and others. Adjusts and operates welding equipment to perform non-critical welds on fabricated parts and subassemblies. Maintains production quantities, efficiencies and quality on parts welded. Set up and load fabricated parts or subassemblies into jigs and fixtures. Prepares the surface to be welded by grinding, buffing or brushing so the weld can be performed. Visually examine welds for adherence to blueprint specifications. Maintains welding equipment and makes adjustments on equipment to prepare it to weld different parts or subassemblies when changing from one part to the other. Loads and unloads fixtures. Perform simple measurements using devices or gauges to check work. May skip weld designed parts to secure pieces for other welders. Set-up, adjusts and operates welding equipment to spot or seam weld parts and subassemblies for 3 or more product lines in accordance with blueprint specifications. Works from oral or written instructions with little to no supervision. Perform all duties assigned by the Supervisor.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

Ability to understand and follow simple instructions. Capable of performing standard measurements. Knowledge of basic procedures of MIG welding required. Ability to lift, push or pull 50 pounds alone and 100 pounds with assistance.Must be able to speak, hear and see to perform duties to communicate and build subassemblies. Must be able to demonstrate required knowledge and ability to read blueprints with weld symbols and specifications. Ability to effectively train others. Knowledge of basic procedure of voltage and amp for given requirements.

 

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or GED required. 1 year experience in welding required.
