Major Position ResponsibilitiesSUMMARY: Welds all types of commonly used metals and alloys of various sizes, shapes and thicknesses, including dissimilar metals such as copper to steel. Operates various hand-welding, flame-cutting, hand-soldering or brazing equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations or seams of fabricated metal products. May set up, operate and/or tend to robots that weld, braze, solder or heat treat metal products, components or assemblies
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal parts and other weldable material to form permanent bonds by applying appropriate welding techniques. Prepares the materials and set up for a welding device or robot. Welds metal components and parts using specialized equipment such as gas welders and gas torches. Uses electrical currents to create heat and bond metals. Plans work by interpreting blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics. Observes tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
