Welding Inspector

Do you have the expertise and passion to make a difference in natural gas distribution projects? We are looking for a knowledgeable and dedicated Welding & Coating Inspector to join our dynamic team in Rochester, MN. In this role, you’ll work closely with clients and contractors, contributing to the success of main replacement projects while ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with industry standards.

As a Welding & Coating Inspector, you will oversee natural gas distribution and main replacement projects, traveling to various sites to ensure proper execution and compliance with client specifications. You will maintain professional relationships with clients, contractors, and team members while consistently delivering excellent client work. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys fieldwork, thrives on solving challenges, and values teamwork.

This is a field-based role in Rochester, MN with a focus on hands-on oversight and compliance. The position will require travel 70%–80% of the time and has an anticipated duration of 6 to 7 months.

Responsibilities

Conduct visual inspections of welds and coatings to ensure compliance with industry standards, client specifications, and safety regulations. Review and interpret welding and coating procedures, codes, and standards for accuracy and adherence. Identify and document defects or non-conformities in welding and coatings, providing recommendations for corrective action. Ensure proper surface preparation and coating application processes are followed, including verifying thickness and adhesion. Maintain accurate inspection records, prepare detailed reports, and communicate findings to clients and contractors. Collaborate with clients, contractors, and team members to address issues and ensure project timelines and quality standards are met. Monitor and verify that all work complies with applicable regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Conduct regular on-site assessments to ensure safety, cleanliness, and proper handling of materials and equipment.

Required Qualifications:

Certified Welding & Coating Inspector (CWI) and NACE-certified. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Possession of a valid Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record. Ability to travel extensively as required by project locations

Preferred Qualifications: 

Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Experience with coatings and welding inspections.
