Oakland, CA - Retail shopHow will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?The Welding Process Specialist will assist the sales department with gaining and retaining core business through Cost Savings Engineering, Shield Gas Selection, Weld Training, Technical Information, and Automation Selection by providing a high level of technical expertise and customer service.Target Annual Salary: $85,000 - $100,000 with a 15% target bonus and car allowance. This position will be remote, traveling within the Bay Area and San Jose.
Expand the technical offering for Airgas industrial welding gases, hard goods, consumables, welding equipment, and safety goods.
Develop, and maintain relationships within the Airgas Northern California and Nevada region in order to understand the market for welding processes and metal fabrication.
Support the region by providing assistance in design, installation, start-up, and safety training of metal fabrication technologies.
Conduct and assist with product demonstrations at promotional events and exhibitions.
Provide troubleshooting assistance, productivity, and/or quality improvement ideas to end-user customers.
Generate new sales of cylinder gases by carrying out demonstrations of our welding products.
Increase customer retention and satisfaction by carrying out appropriate technical stewardship of key accounts.
Maximize account profitability by promoting our added-value products to both customers and prospects.
Maintain Airgas' reputation and image as a quality supplier of gases by providing sound technical and safety advice to customers and prospects on all welding and cutting-related activities.
Contribute to the development and introduction of new products for the fabrication market.
Carry out welding training for sales representatives.
Monitor competitor's activity in metal fabrication, utilizing seminars, trade shows, advertising, and other contacts and information sources (i.e. manufacturers' directories, professional societies, trade organizations, and distributors) to develop new prospects.
________________________Are you a MATCH?Required Education:
Associate degree in Welding, Military Weld training or Bachelor’s degree (Engineering), or equivalent preferred.
Possession of AWS Certification or similar welder certifications is preferred
Required Length & Type of Experience:
Minimum 4 years welding experience or supply to the welding and fabrication industry required.
Minimum 3 years in technical sales or direct sales to the welding and fabrication industry preferred.
Must possess basic knowledge and understanding of welding processes and technology and a desire to continually develop skills, technical understanding, and knowledge base of Airgas value added offers to the welding & fabrication industry.
Must be able to apply mathematical formulas that quantify the costs associated with customer processes so that analysis and comparisons may be created.
Experience in Total Quality Management, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma implementation in a fabrication or manufacturing environment is desirable.
Must be self-motivated and results and action-oriented.
Must have good communication skills and confidence to interact at all levels of the customer and Airgas organization.
Must be proficient with computer applications including but not limited to Microsoft and Google office products.
