Brief Summary
The primary role of the Team Lead is to work closely with the Production Supervisor, peers, and other departments to contribute to Valmont’s overall success. The Team Lead must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results. This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor and is responsible for driving the Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost metrics in the Large Pole Shop. Effective communication, leadership, teamwork and motivation with all shop employees while adhering to Valmont’s standards, policies, and procedures are critical for this role.
Essential Functions
Work closely with your Production Supervisor, peers, and other Departments to contribute to Valmont’s overall successMonitor and coach employees on shift to ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed and adhered toImplement and assign work schedules to maximize the utilization of manpower, machines, and equipmentSet daily direction and clearly communicate expected production standards for the shift. Understand and follow up on daily performance. Lead the Team on Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to understand losses, take action prevent future breakdowns and incidentsPromote a continuous improvement climate that encourages suggestions from the teamTrain, coach, and develop the team to ensure proper operation of assigned work and equipment. Help assess and manage the team’s bench strength.Ensure inspection checks and quality assurance occurs to produce high quality productsAdminister and support company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent mannerSupport the team and fill in however and wherever necessary to help drive the success of the DepartmentRequired Qualifications
The ability to pass a forklift driver’s testA strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft OutlookStrong leadership skills and the ability to support divisional business objectivesExcellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated ability to accomplish tasks and reach goals through the work of the teamThe ability to learn/understand all Large Pole functions within one yearThe ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manualsKnowledge of and ability to use common shop mathematics, in feet, inches, degrees, and fractions, in reading complex prints, and standard specificationsThe ability to solve problems and make an informed decision based on the situationEffectively interpret and present information both one-on-one and in front of a groupHighly Qualified
Associate's degree with 5+ years of relevant work experience, or 7+ years relevant experience is preferredA strong working knowledge of IFSCurrently Welder B status or higherDemonstrated experience in a Leadership role is preferredPractical hands-on experience in Lean ManufacturingBenefits
