Wellness Attendant- Part Time
Location: New Hartford, NY Category: Sitrin Health Care Center Posted On: Wed May 29 2024 Job Description: Position: Wellness Attendant Supervisor: Wellness and Aquatics Coordinator Pay Rate: $15.00 Hours: Part Time, Variable Hours The Wellness Attendant is to supervise persons in swimming pools by scanning back and forth over the water, slowly monitoring activity for optimal safety. Will not engage in activities that will interfere with his/her duties such as reading, extensive conversation, use of cellphones, etc. when therapy or classes are in session. Ensure lifesaving equipment is mounted in a conspicuous and accessible location near the pool deck and kept in good repair. Report any defect to Wellness and Aquatics Coordinator immediately so that equipment can be repaired or replaced. Assures all signs containing rules and regulations are readable and complied with in the pool area. Enforce the rules and regulations of the pool. Whenever the Wellness Attendant responds to an emergency in the water, proceed with use of safety equipment and procedures. Must participate in safety drills when scheduled to ensure knowledge and skill in rescue. A written incident report is to be completed by the Wellness Attendant. Times, action by various individuals, witness statements, and equipment used are to be specified. Documentation and procedures for care will be according to the Outpatient Accident/Incident Policy. The Wellness Attendant is to complete the "Daily Checklist and Temperature Log" from the pool office each shift and inspect the pool and locker room areas. It is to be returned to the office following inspection, and anything out of the norm is to be discussed with the Supervisor. The Wellness Attendant will contact the supervisor when pool closure is necessary at any time. Wellness Attendant Job Description Inspect all locker rooms to ensure walkways are clear of personal items, bathrooms and changing areas are clean, towel and garbage bins are emptied, spray cleaning bottles are refilled, washcloths are placed at cleaning station and water is squeegeed from floors. Ensure members/patients have exited the pool area, locker rooms and gym before the end of the evening and weekend shift prior to exiting the building and turn off all lights in these areas. Performs duties according to the highest ethical and moral standards and in adherence with the corporate compliance policy and all applicable governing laws. Performs all other duties appropriately assigned by the Wellness and Aquatics Coordinator and/or immediate supervisor to ensure that the department functions and operates as smoothly and efficiently as possible. The duties include, but are not limited to: Perform scheduled pool cleanings including pool walls, grates, floors and application of wax to stainless steel. Perform vacuuming of pools daily after the evening shift. Taking phone calls, returning messages, enrolling and booking members for open swim/gym times and aquatic classes using the computer system. Instruction of aquatic classes following training period. Rinse all aquatic therapy equipment after each use. Hang to dry. Cleaning of divider curtain with appropriate cleaning solution as needed. Check water levels and temperature in each pool daily starting at the beginning and end of each shift, inform supervisor when levels are high or low. Document in log sheet. Monitor the valves on the Pool Lift; making sure valves are shut off when chair is not in use and batteries are charged. Squeegee the water off the pool deck consistently to prevent injury. Keep area around pools free from obstructions, all items used by the members must be put away after use. Keep the equipment closet clean and organized. Towels, washcloths, toilet paper and pool cleaning supplied must be stocked in closet and will notify supervisor when items are low. Assist with ordering equipment, notifying Wellness Coordinator of low and broken items. Clean gym spaces, wiping down equipment, sweeping and mopping floors during each shift. There shall be no lapse in pool supervision during shift, must find coverage for breaks if needed. The Wellness Attendant must find their own coverage for shifts they have been scheduled to work if they are unable to work them. Perform any other duties as requested by Wellness and Aquatic Coordinator or immediate supervisor. Job Requirements: Possess a current ARC Professional Rescuer CPR Certificate of American Heart Association Course "C" CPR Certificate or NYS Department of Health accepted equivalent certificate. Certification period must not exceed one year. CNA preferred. Be at least 18 years old with experience with aquatic environment and children. Additional Information: Charles T.
